James E. Bashaw - President
Jim began his career with the firm in 1987 and has been involved with every aspect of the firm’s mission. His current responsibilities include security selection, portfolio management, and SEC compliance. As part of our team, he is committed to providing superior investment performance, complete and timely communications, and service to valued clients.
Jim is a University of Michigan graduate with distinction, having earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a minor in Economics. Additionally, he holds a Series 65 license.
Christopher R. Szydlowski, CFA - Senior Vice President
Christopher joined the firm in 1998 following his graduation from Hillsdale College and is committed to providing personalized service to our clients. He is responsible for managing client portfolios and assisting in investment research. He also helps with the timely communications that we provide to our clients by participating in database management and performance measurement.
Christopher has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Finance from Hillsdale College and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan. He is a CFA charterholder and is currently a member of the CFA Society of Detroit.
Tyler J. Bashaw - Portfolio Analyst
Tyler joined the firm in 2018 following graduation from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship. His primary responsibilities include client reporting, database management, and performance measurement. Tyler is a third-generation member of JLB and is dedicated to providing the best services to all clients. Additionally, he holds a Series 65 license.
Janet M. Charter - Staff Assistant
Jan joined the firm in 2008 and has committed herself to preserving and to enhance both team and individual client relationships. She handles all of the administrative functions at JLB, as well as database management, client reporting, and communications.
Jan graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a minor in Business Marketing and has been involved in the banking and brokerage industries since the mid-1990s.
Dorothy E. Bashaw - Treasurer
Dorothy began working for JLB & Associates Inc Investment Counseling upon her retirement from a thirty-four-year career in nursing. She is currently responsible for the internal bookkeeping and accounting for the firm. In addition, Dorothy handles the payroll as well as the tax reporting.
